Who I am

Sean Lonsdale Portrait Photography ("I", "me") is a portrait photography business based in Lincoln, Lincolnshire, UK. I am the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

What information I collect

  • Enquiries and bookings: your name, email address, phone number, address and any details you share about your session.

  • Photographs: images taken during sessions, which may include children and pets.

  • Payments: records of what you've paid. Card details are handled by my payment provider, and I never see or store your full card number.

  • Website use: basic information such as your IP address, device type and pages visited, collected through cookies and analytics (see "Cookies" below).

  • Marketing preferences: your email address if you join my mailing list.

How I use your information

  • To reply to your enquiries and arrange, carry out and deliver your session

  • To edit your images, create your gallery and produce any wall art or prints you order

  • To take payment and keep financial records

  • To send you news and offers, only if you've agreed

  • To improve my website

Legal basis for using your information

  • Contract: to provide the services you've booked

  • Consent: for marketing emails, and for using your images in my portfolio, on my website or on social media. You can withdraw consent at any time.

  • Legitimate interests: to run and improve my business, provided this doesn't override your rights

  • Legal obligation: to keep accounting and tax records

Photographs of children

I only photograph children with the consent of a parent or guardian. I will never publish images of you or your children without your permission, and you're free to say no to any use beyond your own gallery.

Who I share your information with

I never sell your personal information. I only share it with trusted providers who help me run my business, such as:

  • Squarespace, which hosts my website and handles enquiry forms and bookings

  • Payment provider, e.g. Stripe, PayPal, Square

  • Online gallery or cloud storage provider

  • Print labs and framers who produce your wall art

  • Email marketing provider, if you use one

  • My accountant, where needed

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, I rely on appropriate safeguards to protect it.

How long I keep your information

  • Enquiry details: [12 months] if you don't go on to book
